  • Reading Fiesta

    Published 12/09/25

Today we had our Reading Fiesta, where all the children dived into books and continued to read for pleasure and foster a love for reading. The whole school had an assembly followed by buddy class reading. There was also a scavenger book hunt where the children had to guess the title of a very famous book! Throughout the day, the children participated in various book activities, from classic books, to diverse books and well-known author books. In the afternoon, parents/ carers and families were invited to share a book and read with the children. The teachers demonstrated how reading and fluency are taught and how they can best support at home too.

We also would like to thank Tesco Stronger Starts, Pickled Pepper Books and Angle House Foundation as they awarded the school with a grant, and we have been able to purchase brand-new books for our Reading zone, class book corners and our new outdoor Book Hunt, which is also filled with wonderful books!

Our Year 6 children had a fantastic day out on their end-of-year trip to Laser Quest, which was a great trip for the children to have their last core memory with each other. Then they performed their final assembly to their parents, fellow pupils and staff. Children shared their fond memories of their time at Delta, performed a song and were treated to a trip down memory lane by Laura! Our Year 5 children from Jemison Class also recited a heartfelt leaving poem. The children each received their Delta Leavers 2025 jumper and an autograph book as a keepsake gift. They also got to enjoy their Leavers party and had fun playing many playground games, eating pizza and dancing. We will miss you Year 6!
