This morning, we had a very successful 'Bring Your Grown Up' to school where many parents came in to have an insight of how Read Write Inc. and Reading Comprehension is taught across the school.
Today, our after school clubs began for this term. The children really enjoy attending the enrichment clubs that we offer at Delta.
We had our first ever Bikability Club, where the children were learning about being safe on the bike when travelling on the footpaths and roads with an adult. They will soon be moving onto knowing when to use hand signals correctly.
Today the children had a whole school assembly to introduce the 'Author of the month' who will be Floella Benjamin. The children will be able to pick and choose many books from written by Floella Benjamin from our Reading snug in the corridor.
Today Reception Rosen, Year 1 Kahlo and Year 2 Mandela participated in a Drama Workshop with the company Perform. The children were very engaged and enjoyed expressing themselves and being in role of many different characters.
We also announced the pupils who have achieved 100% attendance this term. It was fantastic to award 31 pupils in total a certificate, a 100% attendance pencil and wristband. This is the highest number of pupils we have ever had during the Autumn term.
During our Celebration Assembly, the teachers also chosen a pupil from their class who has shown Outstanding Kindness towards others and around the school this term. Well done to all the pupils. It really does show that 'Kindness is our superpower.'
Today, we had our Celebration Assembly where the teachers chose pupils from their classes who have worked hard in different curriculum subjects this term. The teachers also chose a 'Pupil of the Term' who has been making the right choices, following our school values and making good behaviour for learning choices, which has allowed them to make exceptional progress in all areas of the curriculum.
Year 3 Angelou, Year 4 Farah and Year 5/6 Jemison classes performed their Christmas poems to the rest of the school. Our half termly poetry performances are becoming a great success. The children enjoy reciting the poems and performing in front of an audience.
We are going to continue these poetry performances in the Spring and Summer term and will be inviting parents to come and watch too. More information will be given nearer the time.
We have a brand new Reading Snug in the corridor. The children love taking a book and reading on the sofa during playtimes.
Reception Rosen Class performed their Christmas Songs to parents. They all sang so beautifully with actions and even instruments. This was their first performance in front of a large audience, and they all did exceptionally well and sang with confidence.
Year 1 Kahlo and Year 2 Mandela performed Christmas Songs to parents. The children sang beautifully and with confidence. Thank you to all the parents who attended.
The whole school enjoyed Christmas lunch today, pulling crackers and getting into the festive spirit. We even had a special visit from Santa Claus!
Thank you to all the children who also wore their Christmas jumpers and bought a £1 donation which will be given to the charity - Save the Children.
