Today we learned that kindness has three qualities – being friendly, generous and considerate. Thank you to @52Lives and Tanya for an inspiring online kindness workshop! We made something in class for our special people to spread the kindness message.
It's the first day of the Summer term and the children are enjoying playing in the sunshine.
To promote reading for pleasure, we held a book corner competition this half term. Teachers and children used their imagination to redesign the reading corners in their classrooms and the winners were judged by the school governors on their recent visit. The results are fantastic and classes have created some lovely reading spaces in their classrooms. Well done to all!
The winners are...Year 3 Berners-Lee for their Enchanted Garden reading corner! Congratulations to Chris and all the children in Year 3. The class will receive some lovely new books for their reading area.
Anning class have been learning about Life cycles and have enjoyed seeing the chicks hatch!
Reception - Anning class and Year 1 - Curie class invited their Mummies to attend a Mother's Day Stay and Play session this afternoon. If Mummy couldn't attend, then Auntie or Grandma could also come into school too!
The children really enjoyed working with their grown up and taking part in creative activities such as making a pasta necklace, using pointillism to create a flower and creating tissue paper flowers.
We had a great turn out so thank you to all the Mummies, Aunties or Grandmas who attended.
The children came to school wearing an item of red clothing along with their uniform and bought a £1.00, to support the charity Comic Relief.
During the morning assembly, the children learnt how Comic Relief is a charity that supports young people and families in the UK and abroad.
Year 3 have been exploring the climates in which different fruit and vegetables grow in their new 'Eating Seasonally' D&T topic. They then followed a recipe to make Japanese fruit skewers which tasted delicious!
We are really enjoying the children bringing in their home learning projects into school. We look forward to seeing many more home learning projects coming into school in the next few weeks.
All the teachers and children enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book character for World Book Day. It was lovely to see all the wonderful learning activities that were linked to Reading. Congratulations to our 'best' dressed winners.
This afternoon, Year 3 Berners-Lee class performed their assembly to parents. The assembly had some key messages about Safer Internet Day, which was on Tuesday 7th February and how we can be safe online.
The class were very confident speaking to a captive audience and also performed a superb song and rap. Well done.
Today the school had our final Children's Mental Health assembly. All the children understood how many better connections with their family, friends and community can have a positive impact on their mental health and wellbeing.
