Today our Year 6 children had their final assembly and will be leaving Delta and going to their secondary school in September. Our Year 6 parents were invited and the children shared their memories of their time at Delta. They also performed and sang a song and we also had our Year 5 children recite a poem to our Year 6 children. The children also each received their Delta Leavers 2024 jumper and an autograph book as a keepsake gift.
At the end of June, TTRockstars launched the 'London Rocks' timetables competition. Delta came 44th out of 346 schools who participated across schools around London. Well done to our Top 2 'Most Valuable Players' who scored the highest in our school.
Year 5/6 Jemison had their end of year trip to ZSL London Zoo. The class travelled by public transport and had a lovely day out. The children were able to see a range of animals.
After the Poetry Performance, all our parents and family members were invited to see our school hall transformed into an Art Exhibition! The children showcased a variety of work from this term, which clearly showed a range of mediums and materials that have been used. The children's Art and D&T work really showed a high quality of knowledge, skills and progression from each year group.
Thank you to all the parents who came and also for their generous donations, which will be used to buy new reading books, art work and new signage for the school.
This afternoon, we had a wonderful turnout and many parents and family members came to watch the children perform their final poetry performance for the academic year.
Once again, the performances have got better and better each half term! The children were able to recite their poems with such confidence! Well done to all our Delta children.
This afternoon, Year 1 Kahlo and Year 2 Mandela performed all the songs and African folktales that they had been learning this term to parents. Each week, we have had a specialist music teacher from Enfield Music Services leading the music lessons.
The performance was enjoyed by all and thank you to all the families who attended.
This afternoon, Reception Rosen class got to enjoy their lovely picnic outside in the main playground alongside their teddies that they bought from home. The children also enjoyed playing with the parachute and on the climbing frame.
Today our hall was transformed into a cinema, where the children were able to watch a movie. The children purchased a 'cinema ticket' and enjoyed some popcorn and drinks whilst watching the film. In total, we raised £296, which will go towards reading books, art work and new signage for the school.
Year 3 Angelou and Year 4 Farah class invited their Dads, Uncles or Grandads to an afternoon filled with fun and games for our Father's Day Stay and Play. It was yet another successful event, where everyone joined in with the following, stem activities, table tennis, large connect four game, board games, frizbee, penalty shoot out and the large jenga game.
Thank you to all our Dads, Uncles and Grandads for attending and we wish you a lovely Father's Day for Sunday.
A few of our Year 5 children travelled by train to The Centre of the Cell Experience at Queen Mary University London. They looked at different types of laboratories and the types of protective equipment they may need to wear to keep them safe. One of the children even got to dress up in full PPE equipment.
The children were then given a scenario and they had to be scientific detectives to work out what illness their patient had using the symptoms to help them. They had to test a sample to identify whether their patient had a viral or bacterial infection.
After lunch, the children were taken into a huge cell-shaped building. Inside, they had the opportunity to look at different parts of the human body, play scientific games and even find out exactly how many cells were inside of their bodies.
Our Delta MPs had an amazing learning experience and visited the Houses of Parliament. The children went on a tour and saw the Houses of Lords and the Houses of Commons. They learnt where the MPs have debates and where the laws are discussed. They also found out about the role of the speaker in the Houses of Commons.
