Year 6 role models
It was wonderful to see our Year 6 children leading playtime with Year 1 and teaching them some of their favourite games such as 'Duck, Duck, Goose,' 'What's the time Mr Wolf?' and even the competitive game 'Four Squares.'

This morning all the classes had an opportunity to showcase their class performance poetry to the rest of the school. We are so proud of all the classes who showed confidence and were able to project their voices really well. It was a great way to finish Book Week.
This week is Book Week at Delta. Events include a visit from an author, a book fair and peer reading sessions. We are also exploring poetry and children are learning a poem to perform at the end of the week. Thank you to parents/carers for dropping in to read with children today!
The school will be having the Book Fair every day after school. The children have been excited and looking at the books they would like to purchase. Just a reminder, we are only excepting cash to pay for the books.
There was a lovely atmosphere in school today! The children came into school wearing red, white or blue to represent the colours of the Union Jack and enjoyed a whole school picnic lunch and coronation cakes outside, in the playground, to celebrate the King's Coronation. Thankfully, the British weather held off until we had finished.
Our Pop-Up Book Hut from The Children's Book Project @lonbookproject is here! Children are really enjoying being able to choose a book to read at playtime.
The children are able to take a book and read it and once they have finished they can return it and choose another book to read.
We are delighted to announce that the school have signed up to a Kindness pledge. We are a Kind School! This is following on from our Kindness workshop last week with @52Lives
We will be displaying this Kindness pledge around the school and in the school office, so please look out for it.
Today we held our Eid celebration day in school. Children were invited to wear their Eid clothes, we had a special assembly and even shared cakes together at the end of the day!
Today the children were excited to choose their second free book this year from the Children's Book Project. We will be receiving our new Outdoor Book Hut very soon!

Today we learned that kindness has three qualities – being friendly, generous and considerate. Thank you to @52Lives and Tanya for an inspiring online kindness workshop! We made something in class for our special people to spread the kindness message.
It's the first day of the Summer term and the children are enjoying playing in the sunshine.
To promote reading for pleasure, we held a book corner competition this half term. Teachers and children used their imagination to redesign the reading corners in their classrooms and the winners were judged by the school governors on their recent visit. The results are fantastic and classes have created some lovely reading spaces in their classrooms. Well done to all!
The winners are...Year 3 Berners-Lee for their Enchanted Garden reading corner! Congratulations to Chris and all the children in Year 3. The class will receive some lovely new books for their reading area.
