Well done to all the children who ran for election. The whole school really enjoyed the experience of going to a polling station, having a polling card, filling a ballot paper and having the right to vote.
It is our Delta Parliament Polling Day today. All the children across the school will have a chance to vote. The children had their own individual polling card, which they took into the hall. Then the children completed a Ballot paper where they needed to vote for their class councillor and the person they would like to me our Year 6 MP. Finally, all the Ballot papers were placed in the Ballot box.
The votes will be counted and the councillors and Year 6 MPs will be announced tomorrow.
The Year 6 children read their manifestos to the rest of the school and gave many reasons why they should be voted as an MP for Delta Parliament. It took real courage and confidence to speak clearly in front of an audience. The children did exceptionally well.
Today Kate Stevens, the Headteacher delivered a Phonics meeting to our Key Stage 1 parents. The meeting informed parents about the importance of Early Reading and how the children are learning their phonics sounds to help them to segment and blend to help them read.

This morning the children had a whole school assembly discussing the launch of our Delta Parliament. The assembly informed the children about how pupil voice matters. The classes will be nominating children from their classes who would like to run for the election and be a class councillor. The Year 6 children will be writing their manifestos, ready to present to the rest of the school this Friday.
Next week, the school will be holding a Polling Day, where each class will be given a Polling card, which they need to present when they go to vote. The children will then vote and mark an X on the Ballot paper for their class councillor and for a Year 6 MP.
Today it is World Mental Health Day and the children came into school wearing something yellow, to show children and young people who have mental health problems that they're not alone.
The children took part in various PSHE lessons were they were reminded about how looking after our wellbeing have never been more important. However, people still fell ashamed to open up about how they are feeling. The more people who show they care, the more comfortable young people will feel about talking to someone if they are struggling.
